Programming
On this self-guided tour, discover the different areas of the abbey where the shapes of the architecture change according to the effects of light and shadow.
Once night has fallen, stroll under the starry sky while admiring the illuminated bell tower of the abbey church.
Light and shadow are the loudspeakers of this architecture of truth, calm and strength.
(Re)Discovering the history of the abbey
Built in the 12th century, Le Thoronet Abbey is considered to be the "Wonder" of the Cistercian abbeys of Provence. This monument has left its mark on generations of architects, including Le Corbusier, Fernand Pouillon, John Pawson and Tadao Ando.
