Architecture and light, light and architecture, the two are inseparable.Le Thoronet Abbey is a clear demonstration of this. As Le Corbusier said: "Architecture is the skilful, correct and magnificent interplay of volumes assembled under the light".
Archilumen, a sensitive dialogue between light and architecture in the Var, produced by the CAUE Var, brings together 23 photographs in which light gives body and meaning, matter and life to architecture from different periods and of different types.
The CAUE Var commissioned Michel Eisenlohr, an internationally-renowned photographer from the Var. His artistic approach reveals his interpretation of the Var's rich built heritage.
The Var, a department bathed in sunshine, is an exceptional terrain for expression, revealing the dialogue between architecture and light. Le Thoronet Abbey wishes to demonstrate this through this exhibition and a range of other activities.
