What is Monuments Solidaires?

The Centre des monuments nationaux, in partnership with a number of national associations from the social, medico-social, justice and care sectors, is launching a new federative operation called " Monument Solidaire ", which will run from 31 March to 6 April 2025.

Through discovery tours, workshops and tours in easy French, as well as awareness-raising tours for professionals and volunteers, the event will showcase all the CMN's day-to-day work in this area, strengthen links with existing relays, meet new ones, and encourage social inclusion and the participation of all sections of the public in the life of the monuments.

At Le Thoronet Abbey

On Wednesday 2 April 2025, as part of the "Monuments solidaires" event, Le Thoronet Abbey is offering an immersive and creative activity that will transport participants into theworld of the monks of the Middle Ages. The aim is to provide the elements needed to lead independent visits with groups:

  • The keys to the different aspects of the monument: history, architecture, operation, etc.
  • A presentation of themes linked to the monument, to give more depth to the content of the visits and enable the relays to organise activities within their structures: calligraphy and illumination, stained glass, etc.
  • An illumination workshop.

The activity will end with a presentation of the tools and documentary resources available, and a time for discussion.

This meeting with players in the social field will also be an opportunity to present the possibilities for co-constructing projects that could be envisaged together, in the form of themed visits and practical art workshops supervised by Le Thoronet abbey mediators.

The abbey is also involved in cross-disciplinary initiatives such as "C'est mon patrimoine" (It's my heritage!) and "L'été culturel" (Cultural summer).
