Scenes from a miniature theatre, the twenty-four lieder of Winter's Journey narrate the reveries of a solitary traveller in winter, suffering from an impossible love. A year before his death, the revelation of Winterreise, a cycle of poems by Wilhelm Müller, led Schubert to "slip melodies under the words", which was the poet's wish.

For any opera singer, tackling such an odyssey is a challenge. Let's be his travelling companions!
