Presentation

For the 42nd European Heritage Days, the Centre des Monuments Nationaux is offering you the chance to explore the Abbey of Le Thoronet, a jewel of 12th-century Cistercian architecture, free of charge and on your own for a weekend.

On the programme

Le Thoronet Abbey is open free of charge from 10 a.m. to 6.30 p.m. Last entry to the site at 5.45 p.m.

  • Market of abbey products with workshops and demonstrations:
    • Olfactory workshop
    • Ceramic decoration workshop (demonstrations)
    • Herbalist workshop

  • Discover the abbey's architecture as a family! (8-14 year olds)

Armed with a questionnaire, parents and children will have to make the stones of the abbey speak and decode the symbols present in its plan, construction and decoration.
